Programmable Thermostats can save you up to 10% on your power bill if you install the proper thermostat for your heat pump and program the proper temperature setting.
1. Use a HVAC contractor to install the proper programmable thermostat for your heat pump.
2. The proper temperature setting should not fluctuate for that 2 degrees or your auxiliary heat could come on costing you more rather than saving you up to 10%.
3. Ask your HVAC contractor about a programmable thermostat that does not allow the auxiliary heat to come on when you program your temperature change for at home or away from home.
